About Oltenia

Oltenia is a region of southern Romania and includes Olt and Dolj counties.

Poverty is a serious problem facing many individuals and families in the southern county of Olt . The problem is due to poor industrialization and lack of jobs in or near the city. In many families the only financial income is provided from seasonal work or the children’s governmental allowances . This phenomenon affects all types of people, from children to the elderly, while generating more social problems such as: absenteeism of children from school, begging, increased crime, poor health for children and elderly, etc. . Due to the lack of a steady income, families can not provide even basic needs for their children, such as food, clothing, medicine, hygiene supplies for school, and warm,decent housing.
